Lupanara

Roman whores were often called Lupa, which also meant a she wolf. Hence the confusion in the famous myth of Romulus and Remus. A Lupanara is a whorehouse. In this 2-story high building where stone beds in small rooms , with mattresses, in the upper rooms was more space. The lower part was obviously meant for those who wished to spend just a few asses. The hall is full of explicit erotic pictures, probably those served to point out the guest's wishes.
