Day 6 From Die to Montgenevre


How to get to Montgenevre

When you leave the campground go right and follow the road D 93 towards Gap.

Recommended route:

After 6 km. in the centre of Pont de Quart turn left towards D539.
Alongside this road you can find many  lay-bys.
The road brings you through the Gorges des Gats and over the col de Grimone towards N75/E712.
After ±41 km you reach the N 75.
Turn right towards Aspres sur Buech. Then follow D 994 towards Gap.
Remember: 3.80 m. max highth.

Easy route:

Stay on the D93. In the centre of Pont de Quart turn right.
The name of the road changes in D 993 and in Aspres sur Buech in D 994.

Continuation both routes:

In Gap towards Briancon.
Follow N94.
In Briancon keep the left towards Torino (Turin).
At the roundabout go right towards Torino.
When you almost passed the city you see on your right side a very large Parking.
You can park your car here and visit the city. Recommanded!
We spend the the night a little bit further on.
Keep following the road towards Torino.
In Montgenevre continue following Torino.
You pass a tunnel and after a fly-over you see a large parking place on your left.
It is well indicated. Go inside through the barriers.
Don’t forget to take and keep the ticket. You’ll need it tomorrow.
Here we will spend the night.

Gap: Geant supermarket

What to do
Briançon Ramparts of briancon

The highest town in Europe. It was an important place before the Roman time.
Here  the acces to Col de Montgènevre was guarded.
The ramparts, towers and walls built by famous Vauban are still intact.
You have a beautiful view from the Fort du Chateau.
At the tourist information you can get a map of the town.
